About Me

Degrees earned from which college/university and graduated what year:

I graduated with associates of Applied Sciences // Visual Communications from Ivy Tech in 2009. Before that, I attended IU to study Journalism with a minor in Fine Arts. I later studied Informatics / Media Arts & Sciences at IUPUI, but did not graduate because I started an internship that landed me a job as a jr. developer.

Your hometown:

Indianapolis

Favorite personality traits about yourself:

I’m extremely observant to trends and environment / things around me, overly compassionate and polite / friendly with strangers and have the ability to see the bright side of any situation.

Something quirky about yourself:

I have a photographic memory; I know my credit card number, SSN (& SSNs of my partner and 2 kids), drivers license number, etc. all memorized. However, I also have extreme short term and long term memory loss. I don’t remember much of my life.

Why are you involved in your work?

When I was in high school, I was on the newspaper crew. I ended up going to IU for Journalism (where I later dropped out from), but realized my true passion while working on the newspaper was creating the layouts. I went to school for web design, but knew I eventually wanted to work for myself, so I went back to school for development so that I could be a well-rounded designer / front end developer.

What about your life experiences makes your work matter so much to you?

I have a son with special needs, so working for myself allows me to create my own hours and work when I need to so that I can stay home with him and do therapies, take him to doctors appointments, etc. I am extremely passionate about design, but this industry made it really easy to become my own boss when I needed to.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

What’s “spare time”? I don’t have much of that being a “stay at home mom” and my own boss, but when I do get some down time, I love to do DIY projects to create the home of my dreams. Not only do I love digital design, but I’d like to think that I’m a pretty great interior designer as well.

What inspires you?

Everything around me. I see and critique design in everything I see.

Why do you work with sustainable causes? What emotional reasons?

I am extremely passionate about the environment. I am a lover of Mother Earth and believe that if we don’t change our ways, she might abandon us soon.

Who is a hero of yours?

Any other parent of special needs; it is an extremely difficult life and anyone that gets through it is a hero in my eyes.
